As you can ascertain from the title, I’ve incorporated Six Sentence Sunday with Suspenseful Seven Sentence Sunday. But, I’ve even gone one step further. When you read the 6+1 you’ll see that I’ve left you hanging again. Being the nice person I am (not) I’ve given you the next sentence, number 8. For that one, the key to this scene you’ll have to go below my ‘Shameless Promo’ to read it.
Recap of last week-Ian and Aimee were walking along a river when they spied what they thought was a campfire. On further investigation, it turned out to be something much worse, causing her to faint.

So without further procrastinating:
As he gently laid her down, he looked over his shoulder. Instantly he recognized the burnt object. A body, burned beyond recognition.
He turned his attention back to Aimee, her skin icy cold and pale. So focused on her he never heard the rustling of leaves. The snap of a twig barely registered in his consciousness.
A cough from behind drew his attention to a man standing five feet from him. Ian slowly rose to his feet, then froze.

Now here’s the sentence that I promised you:
He never felt the bullet tear through his skull.
Oh, you evil, evil man. I love it.
Gunnar
I love being evil. How did you like the way I had the 6+1 then further down the page the 8th. Just a touch of tension until you got to it.
And maybe, just maybe, Part 3 next week.
I like it, Lindsay. Nice layout and great way to increase tension. Of course, now I’m wondering what happens to Aimee.
Who knows what EVIL lurks in the demented minds of mystery writers. You and everyone else will have to stay tuned to next week to find out.
You are such a Tease! This was a great read!
JH!
If you think this is a tease you should check out some of my other Six Sentence Sunday snippets.
can have more than 6 ?
Oh, ho ho, I snorted – fab u lous 😀
Only if you combine SSS with 7SSS can you have more than 6
Next week I’ll be back to 6.
ok – thanks for clarification – thought you might have been breaking the rules – not this time – but bet you do break rules …
My motto, at least one of them. Rules serve only one purpose in writing-to be broken.
Why did he freeze??
Wouldn’t you freeze if suddenly a gun was pointed at you
Definitely filled with supsense!
OOOH! Great six + 2 😉 (loved number 8!)
That was one of my favorite lines in this scene to write
Creepy….
Creepy. That’s to come next week.
Absolutely LOVE it! Maybe we should bend the rules and you should always post more! 😉
NOT
That is most definitely suspenseful. Nice work!
Thanks Jessica. I try. Then again many people say I’m trying.
I actually gave someone a card once – said I’m trying – pity I don’t remember what it said …
No comment Sue.
ooh nice!
Very suspenseful excerpt. Nicely done.
Interesting that no one has asked about Aimee.
The math is making my Sudafedded head spin. Very suspenseful.
Yeah but ya done good. Next week will be easier
I didn’t see the bullet coming.
That’s what’s so fun. Never do.
ooh, great suspenseful six! You’ve got me hooked!
And it only gets worse. Or is it better? Can’t figure it out
Eeek! I wasn’t expecting a bullet.
Oh, and just what exactly were you expecting? A big hug
Very well done. Thanks for the teasers. Enjoyed them.
All my best,
Allure Van Sanz
I live to tempt and tease the reader.
“I live to tempt and tease the reader.” You succeed very well, Lindsay! I’m certainly hooked. And this already out/coming out when? Want to read more now!
Let’s see, this is from Target Acquired, a WIP. The first in the series, Target Identified, will be self-pubbed late this Spring or early summer
Excellent post! I can’t wait to read more.
There’s always more.
Noooooooooo! The bullet better not kill him!
Yesssssssss. It so did.
Intense!! You are so clever!
Don’t forget evil
That’s some good dramatic suspense.
loved the bullet. Great surprise
Ooo, the bullet made me wince!
If the bullet made you wince, just think what it did to Ian. Ouch.
Suspenseful! You do a great job with these. 🙂
