A dessert to die for and a new book

I’d like to welcome back fellow Astraea Press author Lisa Orchard. Besides talking about her new book, soon to be released, she is sharing a BOMB of a dessert. Simple, easy and guaranteed to make family and friends coming back for more.

Hello everyone! I hope all is well with you! My name is Lisa Orchard and I’m visiting here today at Lindsay’s blog. I just want to take a minute and thank her for allowing me to visit today! Thanks Lindsay!

I’m a Young Adult Author and my newest release is going to be available on the 26th of this month! Whoo Hoo!

So today in celebration I thought I’d share with you a fun dessert that I LOVE and if you’re a chocolate lover you’ll love it too!

Here it is!

LORNA DOONE DESSERT

1 package Lorna Doone Cookies (or any shortbread cookies will do)

Add melted butter to cookies (approximately ¼  to ½ cup)

1 7 oz. package of chocolate chips

2 Tablespoons of Sugar

2 ½ Tablespoons of water

4 egg yolks

1 teaspoon vanilla

4 egg whites

Crush the Lorna Doone cookies and add melted butter to the crust. Put crust in 10” baking dish and bake at 350 degrees until crust starts to brown. Remove from heat and cool.

Combine chocolate chips, sugar, and water in double boiler until blended. Remove from heat and add egg yolks, beat after each one. Add vanilla and chill slightly. (I usually stick it in the refrigerator until the pan feels cool approximately 10 to 15 minutes.)

Beat egg whites until stiff and fold into chocolate mixture. Spread over cookie crust and top with whip cream.

I usually double this and put it in a 9×13 dish.

This dessert is the BOMB! And speaking of BOMBS, check out the second book in the Super Spies series, “The Super Spies and the High School Bomber.” It will be available from Astraea Press this month! July 26th to be exact! Check out the blurb below.

Uncle Walt is a teacher, and he was in the school when the bomb exploded. Taking matters into her own hands, Sarah decides to search for him. The rest of the Super Spies are right behind her. When a fireman chases them away from the school, Sarah becomes suspicious. She decides to investigate. The FBI arrives on the scene. Sarah realizes this bombing could have even bigger implications. Searching for the bombers, Sarah is introduced to the world of terrorism. She fears that the bombing and her parents’ disappearance are connected and terrorists are involved. To make matters worse, the bombers are determined to finish the job. Can the Super Spies find the bombers before it’s too late?

I love chocolate, but can’t eat anything with gluten, which any recipe with Lorna Doone’s would certainly have.
The premise of your spy story sounds awesome.

    • Lisa Orchard says:

Thanks Jeff…so sad that you can’t try this dessert…I wonder if there’s gluten free shortbread cookies on the market somewhere? Hmmm….that’d be something worth trying!
I’m excited about my new release! My beta readers liked it better than the first one! 🙂

      • jeff7salter says:

These days they make a gluten free version of nearly everything. The trick is to keep any taste in it! So far, I can’t stand G-F pancakes, G-F pasta, and other things. But I’ve found G-F chips that are okay, and G-F frozen waffles.
And some things, like veggies, fruits, and meats, apparently don’t have any gluten … until people start messing with them.

  9. Lisa Orchard says:

I hear you Jeff! Hopefully things will improve and someone will invent artificial gluten! 🙂
